Overview
The introduction to ICND examination is one of the two tests required to certify as a Cisco Certified Network Associate. The second exam is the CCNA ICND test. If desired Cisco has a single examination that may be taken that covers the topics of both tests that will certify the CCNA candidate.

The Cisco ICND Intro tests competency in three general categories: Design and Support, Implementation and Operation, and Technology.

The theme of the SYSTEMS Computer Cisco Training course is to provide the knowledge and preparation necessary not only to pass an examination, but also to acquire the skill set necessary for a networking professional at this level.

A networking professional at this level would be expected to:

  • Understand basic IP addressing, and subnetting, utilizing simple binary math.
  • Know how to establish management sessions to Cisco routers and switches.
  • Determine basic router and switch network operational status.
  • Report troubles to appropriate organization.
  • Know the basic networking building blocks and components.
  • Describe the basic characteristics of LAN's and WAN's.

The typical duties of a CCNA would include rollout of Cisco routers and switches. The necessary abilities required would include:
  • Understanding router and switch internal operations and structure.
  • Ability to copy image and configuration files to and from the devices.
  • Basic router and switch configuration.
  • Ability to discover other directly connected Cisco devices.
  • Installing and cabling up routers and switches to both LAN and WAN's.
